Fred Ruhe kindly drew my attention to this species.  But the information on the right is currently all I know about it.

At the same time, the validity of this species has been questioned already, as the description of a single specimen seems not to completely rule out the syntopic chaseni race of Javan Frogmouth, which is indeed slightly smaller than nominate javensis.
